Lund returned to Denmark in 2003. Her latest body of work, IN TRANSIT, is a personal and political reflection on that transition between the United States and Europe. IN TRANSIT was in 2005 awarded the prestigious 'HSBC Prize' by Fondation HSBC pour la Photographie in Paris. That same year the work was awarded 'Fogtdal Photographer's Prize' and the french publishing house ACTES SUD published the monograph IN TRANSIT.
Currently Birgitta Lund is working on a commission in Paris. A Project connected to the urban development of the former Renault site near Bois de Boulogne. Architects involved in the project include, among others, Norman Foster, Jean-Paul Viguier and Jean Nouvel. The Project will extend over the next 2 years.
